The protagonist is an Olympic runner. At one point the other runners teamed up against him and actually broke one of his ribs in the middle of a race! They also boxed him in but he broke through and won anyway. I thought about that will to go on no matter what while reading this. We may not all run but we can still learn from that and persevere in other ways!

I love this! Especially since I haven’t gotten around to the rest of my stations of the Cross reflections yet… this was so so good. You’re right, I often forget to enter into the full humanity of Jesus when I contemplate His suffering. I think of His power, of His coming glory. I avoid thinking of how His human emotions and fears must have surfaced. This was eye opening, beautiful!
