Saint Gianna is a wonderful soul to go to when we desire extra prayers.

Many women who hope to become mothers pray to Saint Gianna and ask for her intercession.

Personally, my husband and I asked for Saint Gianna to help heal our newborn while he was in the NICU for the first 6 weeks of his life.  We taped a Saint Gianna holy card to the back of his name sign on his hospital crib, and we believe she prayed for him fervently.  He’s now a healthy 7 year old boy preparing to make his First Holy Communion!  Praise the Lord! (We received our holy card when we visited the shrine in Warminster, PA)

Our daughter’s name is Jaina.  The name Gianna is of Italian and Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Gianna is “God is gracious” and is the feminine of Gianni and Jane, from John.  Knowing this, my husband and I have chosen Gianna to be her patron saint.  I’m sure she will pick some patron saints of her own as she grows, but for now – we ask Saint Gianna to pray for her!

Perhaps you have a friend who just had a baby girl named her after Saint Gianna;

Or you know a woman praying to become a mother or pregnant and praying for a healthy birth and pregancy;

or you were asked to be a Confirmation Sponsor and the young woman chose Gianna as her Confirmation name – and you want to give a meaningful gift.
Well, I’m here to help.

If you are looking for Catholic gifts in general, I strongly recommend checking out CatholicsOnline.net!  It’s a directory of Catholics that includes artisans and businesses!

Here are some gifts inspired by Saint Gianna!  The first is a beautiful gift for any woman!  Some listed are great for young children, others like the sticker, bracelet, and journal are all excellent Confirmation gifts!

A gorgeous gift box and Pillar and Pearl!

Inspired by her quote, “Whatever God wants,” this box is dedicated in honor of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, who is the first canonized “working mother.” The patron saint of physicians, mothers, and unborn children, Gianna’s life was an example of true pro-life values and of sacrifice for family, and this box aims to encourage those who receive it to live the same way.

A book about Saint Gianna.  This book, Journey of Our Love, is Gianna Emmanuela’s favorite book about here Saint Mom!

Between 1955-1962, Saint Gianna Beretta and her husband Pietro Molla corresponded through a series of letters, collected here. Touching, inspiring, and refreshingly human, their exchanges reflect the everyday experiences and the abounding love of a modern day couple, revealing that the way of holiness can unfold in the midst of this world. From balancing work and family life, to dealing with a long-distance relationship, to parenting, to coping with illness and death, Gianna and Pietro conquered it all. But none of it was accomplished without tremendous trust in each other–and in God.

Wall Decor

These three prints from Sweet Little Ones are so clean and simple, love them!

Gorgeous embroidery details on Jesus’ chest and face make this plush even more of a treasure.

The Sacred Heart Jesus is dressed in classic red and white with the Sacred Heart embroidered on his chest.

I just had to pry the doll out of my 7 year old’s hands!  He keeps saying how cute it is!!

All dolls come tagged with feast day and patronage information, ready for gifting (if you can manage to let them go!) Plush material is surface washable. Safe + non-toxic: US + Canadian safety standard certified.

Saint Francis and his animal friends make the perfect design for babies and children.

This Muslin Swaddle Blanket was hand drawn and includes: Saint Francis, Ducks, Bears, Skunks, Birds, Foxes, the Sun, Moon and Stars, Deer, Fish, Bunnies and Pears.

St. Francis, pray for us!

Gifts for Children and tweens:

The Star: A Tale About Faith and Friendship

This movie became an instant family favorite when we saw it!  I LOVE it!  Tells the story of Joseph and Mary and the birth of Jesus through the eyes of the donkey who traveled to Bethlehem with them.  It’s adorable and the DVD is only $4.00!

A Faith Based Book

For the children of parents who frequently pray the Rosary or the Divine Mercy Chaplet, these two books for little ones are a great way to talk about the example mom and dad are setting.

Divine Mercy for Little Ones

introduces children to the beautiful devotion of Divine Mercy. Children learn the meaning of God’s mercy, as well as the different aspects of the devotion, such as the symbolism behind the image, the hour of mercy, and Divine Mercy Sunday. Divine Mercy for Little Ones

Consecration to Mary for Little Ones

Consecration to Mary for Little Ones follows the traditional 33-day preparation of Marian Consecration, at a child’s level. Children learn about Mary’s life, how to pray with her, and why having a relationship with her will bring them closer to her son, Jesus. Each day also includes a special quote from a saint or Marian apparition. Let us bring the little ones to Jesus through the “quickest, easiest, and fastest way,”the Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Single Decade Rosary for School Bag or Purse

Best suited inside a purse or backpack for quick access for prayer, this is stylish, fun and totally practical. Made by Small Things Great Love, you can get a rainbow style or blue and white in honor of Saint Teresa of Calcutta. Personally, I can’t wait to give it to the 8th grader who asked me to be her Confirmation Sponsor this Christmas!

A Marian Scrunchie

Yes, these things exist – much to every tween girl parent’s delight!

Now your favorite Marian pattern is a scrunchie! Wear it on your wrist or wear it in your hair.

Hand painted by Erica – bring with you Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady of Aparecida.

Journals/Books

Recommended for Girls: Be Yourself: A Journal for Catholic Girls

Journal for tweens and teens

Fabric Bracelets

Many secular gift guides this year have Pura Vida bracelets listed.  Mary with You makes similar bracelets, but adds Catholic scapulars and meaning to their products!

This friendship style bracelet set is called “Gate of Heaven”.  So pretty!

Nail Polish

If you’ve read the name of some nail polishes . . . you might know that some are not exactly G rated.  This motivated a concerned Mom to start her own business.

“The idea for Lisieux came after finding the best pink nail polish only to find out it had the most inappropriate name ever and we had to hand it back to the sales associate at the cosmetics counter. ”

Lisieux Nail Polish has beautiful colors and the names celebrate our faith.  Some colors you fill find are Cherub, Avila, Paschal and Water into Wine.

Socks!

No one in my house can ever find a pair of matching socks.  Everyone in this house are getting socks from Sock Religious this year!

Wooden Medal Bracelets, Necklaces and more!

Kindred Forest Co. is an artisan wooden Saint medal company. We are creating a new narrative about Saints – one that brings them into our everyday lives in the most pure kind of friendship: friendship that desires the best good – God – for everyone involved.

Gifts for men:

Our most favorite gift for Catholic men – young and old – in our household are the

WWI Battlebead Rosaries.

*Perfect for the history buff!

Historical 1916 WWI Service Combat Rosary design.
This compact all metal rosary is rugged, functional and portable.  It has a meaningful history, as it is a replica of the service combat rosaries issued by the government to soldiers, sailors, and flying aces during WWI.
It comes in a small round tin for portability and storage.

Saint Anthony Key Chain

Make him laugh while giving him something practical!

I love how the Saint Anthony Key Chain has the prayer “Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony please come around and when this gets lost, make sure it gets found”!

If he doesn’t tend to lose things, this Saint Benedict Medal keychain is attractive, masculine and plus tradition has it that it gives God’s protection against spiritual and physical danger. Now that’s a gift that keeps on giving!

Door Number 9 is “all things Catholic Geek” and I mean that in a great way.  My husband and I belong to a Catholic Geek group on Facebook and it is so fun.  And, what is even more awesome . . . there are over 10,000 members.

So, this shop is awesome to peruse if you consider yourself a Catholic Geek.  I highly recommend the St. Nick mug with his icon and the text that states, “I came to give presents to kids and punch heretics,” Saint Nicholas says, “And I just ran out of presents.”

Chocolate/Candy –

Trappistine Quality Candy is made by the nuns at Mt St Mary’s Abbey with great joy, prayer and love. This business allows the Sisters to support their life and further charity.

I also must add their dark chocolate hearts go great with red wine . . . so maybe add this to some beautiful women’s stockings too 🙂

Holy Socks

Socks are a popular stocking stuffer.  Up the game with some socks from Sock Religious!  St. Nick Socks will bring the Christmas sweater party to the next level.  Quite a few of the options are great dress/work socks.  And let’s be honest, one day the receiver is going to be happy you gave them because they may be the only clean socks in the drawer. (Add them to the teens stockings too).

Books

Recommended by my husband, Matt: Hungry Souls: Supernatural Visits, Messages and Warnings from Purgatory

This book isn’t something you might find on normal gift guides – but, it, according to my husband, was a fascinating read and encouraged him to continue and increase how much we pray for souls.

Beard Balm

“The beard signifies the courageous; the beard distinguishes the grown men, the earnest, the active, the vigorous. So that when we describe such, we say, he is a bearded man.”
– St. Augustine

For the Beautiful Women:

So let’s talk about giving gifts to women who are both Catholic and Christian.  I strongly recommend a Miraculous Medal necklace to all of your loved ones.  I personally love a Rosary bracelet.  However, some may identify more as a Christian – others may LOVE simple jewelry.  For both of those women on your list, I suggest:

A Mustard Seed Necklace or Bracelet

Relics by Rose makes both!

Wear this necklace ( or bracelet) as a reminder to inspire your faith in the Lord!
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field; which indeed is smaller than all seeds. But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.”- Matthew 13:31–32

“For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”- Matthew 18:20

These trendy, beautiful earrings are perfect!

Lettered Lace Earrings by Pink Salt Riot

The Lettered Lace collection features a variety of words hand lettered from top to bottom and mirrored to create unique geometrics with a hidden meaning. Totally obscured when worn vertically, the word comes into focus when laid on its side. I have been so excited about these earrings that I have worn my own pair several times already!  Pink Salt Riot has a ton of gift bundles for teachers, tween, teens, women, and men!  You could fill a teen or young adult’s stocking with their products.  So many faith based gifts with modern style.

More exquisite Jewelry from Telos Art

Or as I like to call Telos, “Catholic Anthropologie”

Art & jewelry by Phoenix-based mama inspired by truth, beauty, & goodness. Modern design for a timeless faith.

Holy Socks

One of the memories I have of my mom as a kid was that she always wore socks with holes in them.  Not a fashion statement, just evidence that moms often neglect themselves while they are busy caring and giving to their families.  Give that mom in your life a new pair of socks.  I love the ones that have inspirational messages written on the bottom!

Mother Teresa socks available at Sock Religous (click here)

A book that will make her laugh and nourish her soul!  I recommend When Life Gives You Pears: The Healing Power of Family, Faith and Funny People

and One Beautiful Dream by Jennifer Fulwiler

I saw this mug and smiled, chuckled and showed my husband.  He likes it too 🙂 . Perfect visual of many of my prayers!  I imagine many can relate!

A Tote Bag!

Tote bags are awesome stocking stuffers!  She shops at Aldi, she goes to Adoration or book club, she needs a few good quality totes!

Gift giving is a love language of mine.  BUT, I HATE clutter!

It stresses me out and I find myself donated at least one bag a month to charity.

Gift to me are wonderful – but they need to be really special and often practical.

Here are some incredible products I know I would love!

9 Extraordinary Gifts for Beautiful Catholic Women

1. Miraculous Medal Necklaces

I love that Our Blessed Mother promised to send extra graces to those that wear her medal around their neck.  I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, but I have come to find and truly embrace a few different Miraculous Medal necklaces.  I wear on every day.

Some of my favorites are from Telos Art and Pink Salt Riot

and Boho Handmaids

This year Pink Salt Riot has an entire Mother’s Day Collection!

Read more about why I wear a Miraculous Medal here: Five Reasons Why I Wear a Miraculous Medal

2. Rosary Bracelets

There are some gorgeous, trendy, beautiful, amazing ones out there!

Here are my current favorites:

I also love Give Love & Blessings and Relics by Rose

3. Coffee and Coffee Related Products

I recently saw an article that said something like “Why Coffee is Catholic”.  I didn’t read it.  I think I just shook my head yes, took a sip of mine and kept scrolling.  Lately, my life is more, “prayer, COFFEE, chocolate” if I’m keeping it real here.

I love these coffee mugs made by fellow Christians – and this sign made by Just Love Prints!

Last year my husband bought me two mugs from my friend Kristin’s shop (OneHailMaryataTime and ManyHailMarysataTime).  These are my “go to” mugs every morning!  My favorite is covered in quick prayers.  This year’s version is pictured above.  I love it!

My favorite Catholic mugs out there (yes, if you are shopping for me I want these) are Rakstar Design’s “Morning Has Broken, Coffee will fix it” mug.

And Fawnly’s Our Lady, Undoer of Knots Mug

(My husband even admits to liking that Undoer of Knots mug!)

4. Socks from Sock Religious

I own a pair but I also love them because they are great to give as gifts.  Our family started the “leave your shoes out for Saint Nicholas” tradition a few years ago.  This year I’m excited to put a pair of St. Nick socks in everyone’s shoes!  These are perfect for the feast of Saint Nick, but also for a family like ours who really loves an ugly Christmas sweater party!  Not that these socks are ugly at all – they just add to festivity of the season and make me smile 🙂

5. Helpful Journals

I was pleasantly surprised recently when I met with my Mom’s group and this book was given out by our leader.  A Parent Who Prays.  I’ve had my eye on it for some time.  Then, much to my delight, the author messaged me on Instagram and asked me to review her newest book A Spouse Who Prays

6. Joy in a Box 🙂

Each Joy Box is $85+ worth of PSR products for $25

with free domestic shipping ($12 international shipping).

Each box includes:

  • 2-3 5×7 art prints
  • 6 greeting cards (2 or more designs each box)

  • 2-3 pieces of jewelry, accessories, and other handmade goodies to give + keep
  • Surprises! (surprises have included an extra stickers, a printed gift bag, tattoos, and more!)

And there is a new gift box option that has me pouring over this website, often!

Telos Jewelry Subscription Box

What if, by the end of 2023 you, or a person you love, had a complete collection of jewelry from Telos Art Shop? Our liturgically themed Quarterly Subscription Box makes this dream a reality! Each quarter a new item will arrive in the mail with a unique piece of jewelry and a special note behind the inspiration of each piece. (Images depicted are an example only, final designs will be kept a surprise!)

Centered around the liturgical seasons, boxes will be sent within each quarter (April-May, July-September, October-December) with a theme related to a special feast day or celebration. By the end of 2023 recipients will receive four handmade gifts, including:

Items included in the box will be offered at a lower price within the subscription box and might not be available outside of the boxes themselves.

Select either the Gold Box or the Silver Box. Gold will feature yellow bronze or gold filled items. While the Silver Box will include sterling silver.

7. Holy Chocolate

Not only does this candy taste heavenly, purchasing Trappistine Quality Candy contributes to the support of the Sisters of Mount Saint Mary’s Abbey. Being sustained temporally allows us to continue our life of prayer, prayer for you and all the peoples of our world. You can even send the Sisters prayer intentions through their website – ask for prayers for the receiver too!

Holy Chocolate!

***follow Prayer Wine Chocolate on Instagram!***

8. Catholic Earrings

We could always use a new pair of pretty earrings!  And I have to confess – with the hope that someone will say that I am not alone – I often find my earrings in the washer :(.  I love earrings by Pink Salt Riot, Telos Design,  Rakstar Designs and Relics by Rose.  If my husband is reading this – please buy me these Hope Earrings from Pink Salt Riot!

The purpose of the St. Benedict medal is to call down God’s blessing and protection upon us, wherever we are, and upon our homes and possessions, especially through the intercession of St. Benedict. By the conscious and devout use of the medal, it becomes, as it were, a constant silent prayer and reminder to us of our dignity as followers of Christ. And that color pink – LOVE IT!

9. Catholic Blankets

I love a Catholic Blanket – both getting one and giving some!

It’s so lovely!  It’s so soft and it is a wonderful reminder to find comfort in prayer!!!

Honestly and truly, there is nothing like being in someone’s heart when that person is talking to God.  Prayer is such a blessing and extremely powerful.  Pray for the woman and the women that you love – it truly helps and makes a difference!

The Little Rose Shop has some beautiful blankets to choose from!!!

I don’t know about you, but I think being a Godmother (or Godfather) is an awesome honor and amazing privilege. From the moment of being asked to take on that special role, a special connection begins to exist in a relationship that was already built upon love.

Whether you just became a Godparent or you have been one for a long time, there are gifts available for your Godchildren of every age and stage.

Godparent gifts for Babies and Toddlers

One of my favorite gifts for a truly awesome price – A Decade Rosary Chew!

Made by Little Praying Hands these RosaryRingChews are a sized up silicone version of a rosary ring. They are perfect for little hands to hold and a great way to introduce our little ones to an important part of our Catholic Faith while being soft and soothing to teething gums.

These teethers are 4.5 inches in length and have a 3.5 inch diameter.  RosaryRingChews are made of 100% Food Grade Silicone and are BPA and Lead free.

Chews Life teething necklaces (for mom), teething rosaries and cute toddler bracelets!

The first product I recommend from Chews Life is the Saint Benedict Mini Decade Rosary.

A few years ago a friend of mine with a very young daughter was separated from her husband.  She wanted to send her daughter with a Saint Benedict medal to help ease her mind while they were apart, but feared sending something her daughter could choke on – so a real medal was out of the question.  I searched and searched for one for her and didn’t find one until I found ChewsLife products.  This is a great gift for a mom heading back to work after maternity leave or for a situation like my friend’s. Since it took me a while to find a Saint Benedict medal safe for my friend’s daughter, I ended up purchasing her, my daughter and my niece a safe, adorable Saint Benedict bracelet!

Chews Life has gifts for baby, toddler and Mama!

They include pacifier clips, full rosaries, decade rosaries, necklaces for mom (my twins loved pulling on and chewing my necklaces – these are genius products!).  I love that the necklaces come with a Miraculous Medal that is safe for baby to put in his or her mouth!

Godparent gifts for Boys

A Rosary made out of Legos

A Stainless Steel Money Clip (with a St. Benedict or Miraculous Medal) with money inside it.  When boys grow out of the Lego age they might be a little more difficult to shop for.  I think most of us loved getting the gift of money when we were younger – this money clip gives it a much more meaningful spin and perhaps even more if you have it blessed too.

*** Gift giving tip – “layer” your gifts.  Don’t just give one item.  There’s a chance you thought one thing would be a big hit, and if it’s not, having several presents within the gift will keep the whole experience positive and uplifting ****

A Play Mass Kit or Saint Blocks!

Almond Rod toys has a beautiful wooden Mass kit.  My son received it as a Christmas gift and it was definitely a favorite!

A Miraculous Medal necklace

The following suggestions are not only beautiful, but did you know Our Lady promised to send extra graces to anyone who wears her Miraculous Medal around his or her neck???  Not only will your Goddaughter love this gift, you will also help her receive extra graces from Our Blessed Mother! (see more info here: Five Reasons Why I Wear a Miraculous Medal . . .)

Young girls who are just starting to wear jewelry and enjoy playing dress up will absolutely love SaongJai’s Catholic Girls’ Pearls Miraculous Medal necklace.

SaongJai also makes a cord style Miraculous Medal & Crucifix Silicone Cord Necklace with Heart Bead and

As I write this, it looks like there is only one left.  But, remember, many shops on Etsy take custom orders, so if you go order one and it is out of stock, simply inbox the shop owner and ask if they are taking custom orders!

For Tweens and Teens:

I love a simple gold Miraculous Medal necklace.  This one I found on Etsy is totally my personal style (simple) and has some great reviews: Miraculous Medal necklace

For the more stylish, trendy, jewelry loving teen, I strongly suggest these two necklaces from Pink Salt Riot!

The Bohemian Stone Sword Miraculous Medal Necklace Stack

French Miraculous Medal Bronze Choker

WWI Replica Battle Beads Rosary

For Babies and Toddlers

Chews Life!

We have one ChewsLife Rosary and my twin toddlers both want to hold it when our family is praying the Rosary together. The company has so many different colors to choose from – blue, green, rainbow – these will look so great in an Easter Basket!  I think we are going to have to get another!  I also highly recommend the necklace for Mama’s (great addition to a baby shower gift!) I went through a couple Miraculous Medal necklaces with the past 2 years – babies LOVE to pull on and chew necklaces.

ChewsLife even sells Toddler bracelets!  I am so excited to put one in my daughter’s Easter basket and purchase one for my friend’s daughter too!

Shining Light Dolls

I am loving the Saint Gianna doll – saint and physician 🙂 . But Shining Light Dolls has expanded their inventory to include SO MUCH MORE THAN DOLLS!  Faith and fine motor skills cross paths in so many of their fun products!

The water reveal cards are great for Easter Baskets, as well as all the different dolls – the classic, the plushies and now – a Blessed Virgin Mary Rag Doll too!

Plus, I highly recommend Shining Light Dolls’ wooden toys too!

Happy Easter Coloring Book!

I am so excited to color these Easter Egg pages with my daughter!

Toddler, Pre-school and Young Catholics

Saintly Heart has an incredible selection of toys and games for babies, toddlers and pre-school aged children!

The Saintly Heart Tattoos are perfect for inside plastic Easter eggs (and my 5 year old LOVES tattoos – I think this will be the second year she gets these!!)

But Saintly Heart also has fine motor skill toys based on the Catholic Faith and wooden blocks that are also a huge hit in our house!

For Teens and Tweens

Pink Salt Riot has an Easter box for Tweens!!!

The Easter Box for Tweens is a great gift this year because

  1. It is BRAND NEW!  Just debuted in 2023
  2. It is filled with springy things that delight her sense of style and turn her attention back to Christ’s glorious Resurrection – without a cheesy sentiment in sight.
  3. It’s already done for you!

Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire!” Those words are at the heart of Be Yourself! A Journal for Catholic Girls, which is designed to help girls explore their identity and purpose in life in light of the wisdom of the Catholic Church, including half a dozen female saints.Packed with gorgeous, full-color line art, quizzes, journaling questions, and inspirational quotes from the Catechism and Scripture, the Be Yourself! journal leads girls to discover that they are beautifully and wonderfully made…and that they have a unique, God-given mission and purpose in the world. Recommended for ages 9 and up.

The latest review of the Be Yourself Journal, found on PrayerWineChocolate’s website is from Doug and Grace Johnson.  (Grace is the 12 year old daughter of Doug and Abby Johnson):

Part of the 5 Star Review states:

Grace would even tell you that it’s easy to get caught up in this journal. She’ll plan on spending 5 minutes working in it and before she knows it, an hour has passed by. She enjoys reflecting parts she has already read or worked on as well as exploring new parts of the book. Again, just a great tool for catechizing and connecting young girls to their faith.

I am also loving the Frassati socks for girls – I think it’s the pastel colors that just say Easter and Spring to me!

For Women

Prayer Wine Chocolate Apparel and Wine Tumblers!

The Light Gray Prayer Wine Chocolate Hooded Sweatshirt is perfect for a cool day on the beach!

I love mine – a soft, classic piece and with a convenient pouch pocket that definitely comes in handy!

In full disclosure, I received products in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  I love Christmas shopping and giving gifts that people truly love.

And, if I’m being honest, I like getting gifts too!

This year, let’s give presents that uplift the spirit and encourage faith in Our Lord.

We all know Christmas is Jesus’ birthday.  I love finding ideas that can incorporate His love for us into our modern lives.

There are so many businesses and artists out there that make gifts encouraging prayer, love of neighbor and hope!

Here are a few I am LOVING this year!

For teens and young adults:

  1. The Holy Spirit Chaplet Bracelet by Rakstar Designs*

This is so pretty and a nice change up from the Rosary bracelet (which I also love)!  Rakstar Designs is a shop with a whole variety of items.  The jewelry is beautiful.

I’m also loving their new mug that states “Morning Has Broken: Coffee will fix it”!  These products honor Our Lord and look cool doing so.

2. Temporary Tattoos from Just Love Prints.

My absolute favorite is the “Be Not Afraid” one written in St. John Paul II’s handwriting. Lindsey, the shop owner, also makes car magnets, stickers, phone cases and more.  You have got to check out her shop!

3. Add to the theme of being fearless, give this mini-tablet pouch gift set from DaySpring

Natural Life products are trendy and positive. This is my sister Veronica. She’s wearing a Natural Life Head Band and holding a Natural Life bag.

4. A “Happy Bag” from Natural Life

This company encourages being grateful, choosing joy and spreading hope and happiness!  Today we are well aware that anxiety and despair are often experienced by young people.  These kinds of gifts are one way to remind the receiver that they are loved after the holiday is over.

5. A Prayer Box

I love this  Warrior Not a Worrier Prayer box. Fits perfectly in a stocking and a trendy, stylish reminder to pray and give our worries to God!

6. Purple Sacred Heart Boho Bracelet

This unique and beautiful triple wrap bracelet features a button clasp with the Sacred Heart set into textured jeweler’s clay and sealed with resin. A mixture of purple Jasper gemstone beads and pale lavender glass beads are individually and securely hand knotted. The bracelet is designed to wrap three times around the wrist and is secured by looping the button through the knotted leather loop. The total length is 22″ and it can also be worn as a necklace. Perfect for a woman who wants to wear and share her faith in a beautiful way!

7. Fun Socks!

For those that still leave your shoes out the night before December 6th, St. Nick Socks are perfect!  For Christmas morning, St. Michael and St. Therese’ socks are perfect stocking stuffers and add on gifts 🙂 . Let’s be honest, who can’t use a new pair of socks?

For the guys:

8. A Stainless Steel St. Benedict (or Miraculous Medal) Money Clip by Relics by Rose

Stainless Steel Money Clip for men with a choice of Miraculous Medal or St. Benedict Cross medal. Each piece shows one side of the medal, set into blue or black jeweler’s clay and sealed with resin.

Put some money in it and that gift is a sure winner!

9. Chesterton Coaster Set

These handsome coasters feature a woodgrain pattern, simple imagery, and an awesome quote from GK Chesterton:

“In Catholicism, the pint, the pipe, and the Cross can all fit together.”
Hot gin toddies. Smoking rosemary old fashioneds. A “wet” Advent calendar. Now you can experience Christmas the way it was meant to be celebrated: with festive cocktails and a lively history of Saint Nicholas and other saints! Michael Foley, author of Drinking with the Saints, presents holiday drink recipes; beer, wine, and cider recommendations; and witty instruction on how to honor the saints in this exquisite gift book that will make your Christmas more spirited than ever before.
Confession:  I love this book, so it’s not just for guys!

Each box contains snacks and treats from five religious orders from all over the country. There is a large or small box to choose from.  Who doesn’t like a snack that taste heavenly???

14. A Rosary from corbands.com

Rugged Rosaries make the user aware that praying the Rosary is truly using a strong spiritual weapon.

Tween Girls

15. Catholic pin-back buttons from Annunciation Designs

21. Young Living Essential Oils

My awesome friend, devout Catholic and foster mom Caitlyn Anderson from Catholics Online sells these products and was nice enough to send me some when I was recovering from my hospital stay this summer. I absolutely love thieves and that this company not only sells natural oils to soothe our bodies and minds, but they have make-up too 🙂 Plus, you could actually gift someone Frankincense and Myrrh which is awesome.

*The Come Holy Spirit  bracelet also features a diffuser bead and hand lettered pendant reading “come Holy Spirit.” Use any of your favorite scents to add a little extra something to your prayer experience.

Whether you are the Godparent or sponsor; parent, grandparent, Aunt or Uncle . . . it’s nice to get some new ideas for gifts around the Sacrament Season.

This week I will be honored to stand as my niece’s sponsor.  Somehow she’s going to high school next year!  My how time flies.

Being given the chance to stand as her sponsor, I can’t help but think of my sister, who is now in her 30’s.  Years ago, I was her sponsor too.

I’m feeling compelled to give them both gifts.

Do you desire to give gifts that inspire?  Are you looking for some “holy but trendy” gifts that hopefully will be treasured and will increase the recipients faith?

Here are some suggestions:

Money

Ok, that’s not inspiring.  But honestly, I look back on those Sacraments and I am so grateful my parents threw me a party and my Aunts and Uncles gave me money.  That money went into my savings and stayed there for a little while.  It helped me go to my prom, and eventually grew into college tuition money.  It’s not unique, but it is helpful and it is appreciated.  However, I suggest you give something with it.  Here are some ideas:

Does the person you are shopping for have a smart phone?  Perhaps they would like the Hallow App!!!

This is an incredible gift to give!  The Hallow App has prayers led by Bishop Barren, Mark Wahlberg and so many others.  The app includes music, Scripture readings, even podcast like courses.

Tee-shirt with a Trendy Rosary

This is a great gift for a young woman or young man from teens to adults.

For the men:

I love this shirt with a quote from Pope Benedict!

A great message for every Christian to remember when times are tough and they need to push through.THE WORLD OFFERS YOU
COMFORT
YOU WERE NOT MADE FOR COMFORT
YOU WERE MADE FOR
GREATNESS
-Pope Benedict XVI

Alternative options for Men’s Shirts:

Armed and Dangerous Catholic Tee

Add the coolest Rosary ever (in my opinion):

WWI Battle Beads® Catholic Military Combat Rosary in Gun Metal

You can see a handful of options from Rugged Rosaries here on Etsy!

Silver Combat Rosaries

Gunmetal WWI Rosary

My husband and son both have WWI Battle Beads Rosaries and love them!

Another great Confirmation gift for boys is a comic or book from Voyage Comics and Publishing!

Digital Disciple: Carlo Acutis and The Eucharist

Spider-Man and Faith: Essays on Christian Truth in the Spiderverse

More comics and gifts based on The Sword of Saint Michael, Saint Maximillian Kolbe and more.

Highly recommend perusing the shop at Voyage Comics and pairing a few gifts with the Boys’ Be Yourself Journal.

For women:

Petite Fleur Catholic Shop has a lot of pretty shirts!

I am a huge fan of Pio Prints Tees! Pio Prints has so many inspiring, strong, empowering quotes on soft, stylish shirts.  They are my favorite Catholic tees!  See all the choices here: Pio Print Tees for women and youth.

A Vintage Catholic Rosary

This French Vintage Heirloom Rosary from Della Madonna is exquisite.

For a more economic option, check out Refuge Rosaries.

Add a fun “Taylor Swift style” Catholic bracelet – the words are quite inspiring!!!

A Cozy Catholic Blanket!

This Ave Maria Blanket is lovely! Made by Petite Fleur Studios, this sweet & feminine design makes this throw blanket a perfect Confirmation gift or birthday gift for a special lady in your life! This soft silk touch throw blanket that’s ideal for lounging on the couch during chilly evenings.

Socks!

From Saint Michael to Bl. Pier Giorgio – these socks are such a unique, fun and practical gift!  I love how you can get them for guys and girls!  Here are a few favorites! Sock Religious has a ton of saints to choose from!

Does your school have crazy sock days??? These are perfect!

Jewelry

First and foremost, I can not stress enough how many graces truly come from wearing a Miraculous Medal!  I love the simple style of this one: Telos Art Miraculous Medals (the small options are the best!)

If you shop from Telos, use coupon code AMY10 for a discount!

A classic, simple and beautiful option from Telos is this Crucifix and Miraculous Medal necklace

Telos Art Shop has a variety of beautiful options for both women and men!

If you shop from Telos, use coupon code AMY10 for a discount!

And these are not just for women.  My dad, who still lifts weights almost every day (true story) and is in his 60’s wears one.  His looks like this: Silver Toned Oval Miraculous Medal

One Decade Rosary Bracelets are popular and stylish.  Rugged Rosaries has a Jujube Wood Rosary Bracelet that looks both masculine and trendy.

For girls and women,

Give Love and Blessings all have a great selection.

Books

A Catholic Bible! I probably should have made that number one on the list.

For women, there are a few journaling bibles out there.

Journaling Bibles are AWESOME!

***If you purchase a journaling bible, add some journal colored gell pens and colored pencils too!!

For men, The Catholic Mens Bible the Great Adventure Bible that is used by Father Mike in the Bible in a Year Podcast is a great choice. For a younger recipient consider the Catholic Youth Bible

Some other books to seriously consider are:

Journal for tweens and teens

The Other Side of Beauty by Leah Darrow

Manual for Spiritual Warfare

And, of course, Be Yourself: A Journal for Catholic Girls

A recent reviewer of Be Yourself: a Journal for Catholic Girls states:

“One evening, I discovered the girls journaling, coloring, and doodling on its cute pages. As I looked at the book and began to read over it, I was so impressed with how beautiful, uplifting, and uniquely Catholic this journal was! I wish I had something like this when I was a teen girl! With handwritten “letters” from the Saints, amazing scripture verse coloring, quizzes, and creating your own Novenas, this journal was so impressive…”

And now there is Be Yourself: A Catholic Journal for Boys!!!

Be Yourself: A Journal for Catholic Boys

is designed for boys to understand their identity and individuality, with the help of their Catholic faith.

Packed full of great art, quizzes, journaling questions, quotes from the saints, Scripture verses, and passages from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Be Yourself journal helps boys become the men God created them to be.

Ages 9 and up.

Temporary Tatoos

– I love this for the junior high student (but know some grown up women that love them too)!  Just Love Prints has two right now – one that says, “Be Not Afraid” in JPII’s handwriting and the other is in Blessed Pier Giorgio’s handwriting!

A Sword –

I kid you not, I asked some Catholic moms for ideas, and one told me she got her son a sword for his Confirmation – now all her kids can’t wait to be confirmed!

It’s a great reminder that throughout life, they will be a spiritual warrior!

In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  And take the hemet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Our son turns five this month.

Screen Shot 2017-06-15 at 11.20.47 AM.png

He has certainly been an amazing blessing in the lives of my husband and I.

We prayed to become parents for years.  Then, when he was born he had a rough start, many friends and family prayed for his healing.

He is one of our miracles.  He is compassionate, funny and definitely one of a kind!

He’s not a big “toy kid”.  He loves playing hide and seek, tag, and telling jokes.

He is a model of living life simply and gratefully.  He wants to know who might come and visit everyday.  He wants to visit his Gram and hang out with her.  He LOVES his cousins. He often follows me around and I find myself suggesting he “go play with his toys”.

As his mother, I need to remember what’s on the top of his wish list:

Spending time with me. Spending time with his dad.  Spending time with his family.

Nothing makes him happier than me giving him my undivided attention . . . even if I’m knocking the ball he is holding out of his hands.  Actually, he loves that.  He thinks it’s hilarious.

God has blessed us with an incredibly amazing soul.

But anyway . . . I’ll stop with the mushy stuff!
There are some gifts that he would love to get for his birthday.

So, if you are shopping for a five-year-old . . .here are Xavier’s recommendations 😉

Ben Ten Play Watch

There was a 10 minute window I found to take a nap the other day . . . I seized it.  I fell into a pretty “deep” sleep for a nap.  Within a minute I heard a loud noise and jumped up.  I thought someone got hurt.  My son was walking towards me and I quickly asked:

“Is everyone okay?”  He was in mid sentence by then.

He had something very important and exciting to tell me.  That something important was that:

“The Ben 10 Watch is now available at Toys R Us!!!”

Really?  That is why you ran up here?

Apparently the loud noise I heard was him busting my door open.  This news could not wait one more second.  Clearly, this is HUGE.

I told my husband this story and instead of a sympathetic reaction, I got:

“Hon, you gotta understand, Ben’s watch helps him turn into . . .”

I then began to block him out.  Clearly no one understands how much I need a nap!

Rocket Fishing Rod

Did you know it helps you catch REAL FISH???  I know, because Xavier is super excited about this.  It’s actually number one on his list!  His Aunt Theresa is on it – she’s going to be a hero this weekend!

Screen Shot 2017-06-15 at 7.41.12 AM.png

Play-doh Doctor Drill n’ Fill

I took our son to the Target toy section because he honestly doesn’t ask for much – but people are asking me for ideas.  He said he wanted this.  I said, “really?”.

Screen Shot 2017-06-15 at 10.46.03 AM.png

Rush and Rescue/ Lights & Sound Vehicles

The first one he started playing with was a fire truck. He has more fire trucks than I can count.  I love how much he loves the “rescue squad” vehicles.  It is so endearing.  We got a post card from the local “rescue squad” asking for donations and he carried it around for a week because it had a picture of an ambulance on it.  He makes my heart smile!

Mickey and the Roadster Racer Plush Toys

Me: You already have a stuffed Donald
Xavier: But we don’t have this stuffed Donald

Me: (hand to forehead and sigh)

This happened the same week he tried to take a giant Minnie and Mickey stuffed toy home from the crisis pregnancy center where I volunteer.  He was pretty bummed he couldn’t bring them home, but he handled it well.

Aeromax Super Fire Hose with Backpack

Xavier’s favorite thing to do is play with water.  He loves to “do the dishes”, play with his water table, play in the tub, squirt the hose – you name it.  If there is water involved, he is happy.  He also loves “rescue work” – from playing firefighter to talking about Paw Patrol – he loves an everyday hero.  So, he didn’t pick this out – but when I saw it, I thought “Xavier would love this!”.  Aunts and Uncles, anyone looking for a gift suggestion?  Here it is!

This year, I’m going to think and reflect on Advent before I rush into Christmas.

Don’t get me wrong, I am super excited to Christmas shop, and fully embrace the season of secular madness.  I’m a big kid and I love it.

But this year, I am seeing a lot of Catholic bloggers talking about Advent – and that has been a wake up call for me.  I need to think about what Advent is, and why Christians established it as a season.

gettingreadyforchristmass

Lucky for me, I am the parent to incredible four year old, and I am eager to go on this journey with him.  If you are not a parent, or your children has grown, perhaps find a niece, nephew or grandchild to embrace this season.  Their innocence is inspiring and really brings the joy and excitement of the season to life.

And people were bringing children to him that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.  When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.” Mark 10:13-16

I’m going to need some help on this journey, so here are a few items I may purchase to help me.  If you purchase these, I make a small percentage – so thank you very much!

The Shepherd on the Search- Advent Activity Set

I LOVE this alternative to the “Elf on the Shelf”.  DaySpring has created this book set so that during the Advent season, families can read the story of the shepherd’s timeless journey in a beautifully illustrated interactive children’s book, and let the fun begin every day as they hide the shepherd and children find him in a new place along the search!

Fisher Price Little People Nativity Set

XavNativityLittlePeople.jpg

This toy Nativity Set was such a great investment for our family. Above is a picture of my son two years ago . . . he made the angel kiss the baby Jesus! Such a great way to talk and teach about what Christmas is and why we celebrate it.  I love that these Little People are durable enough to be played with by very young children, but still enjoyed by the older ones!  We have a beautiful “adult” Nativity Set, but the past couple years we have simply put out this one.  When members of the scene fall, nothing breaks.  That is truly an added bonus! Click here to purchase: Little People Nativity Set

The Legend of the Poinsettia

Screen Shot 2016-11-18 at 10.09.04 AM.png

We see these plants almost as much as we see Christmas trees this time of year.  What a wonderful way to talk about the season with your child by reading this book together. In Mexico, the poinsettia is called flor de la Nochebuenao  which means flower of the Holy Night. This Mexican legend tells how the poinsettia came to be, through a little girl’s unselfish gift to the Christ Child.  I have seen many moms showing excitement for a new tradition of wrapping 24 books before Christmas and reading one a night.  This would be an excellent story to include in that tradition! Click here to purchase: The Legend Of the Poinsettia Book

Advent with Saint Teresa of Calcutta: Daily Meditations

Screen Shot 2016-11-18 at 10.37.18 AM.png

Although I am going to love embracing the season with my son, I will need some time alone with the Lord . . . and my coffee.  These daily meditations are just the right size for me.  I can read it with my coffee, or take it with me to adoration (and if I can only stay for 10 or 15 minutes, this is the perfect way to guide that time in prayer).  The Scripture quotes will also inspire me to pull out my prayer journal and enjoy my prayer time and rare times of quiet reflection. Click here to purchase: Daily Meditations with Saint Teresa of Calcutta

Tis the Season Devotional Kit

Reserving time to prayer journal has been quite tough for me.  I really want to do it and I know it makes my soul happy!  This devotional kit is just what I need to motivate and jumpstart my personal prayer time.  DaySpring has many illustrated faith kits,  and this one is brand new! Saint Nicholas Day is December 6th and this is the perfect sweet to put inside the shoes that are left out for the Jolly Saint’s visit 🙂  Plus, purchasing this product helps support The Nuns at Mount St. Mary’s.  They are a cloistered order and making their candies is how they sustain their community.  To support the Sisters, and to enjoy some incredible chocolate, click here to purchase! Plus, Santa needs to be conservative this year.  When I finally start Christmas shopping, or when someone asks, what should we get for X . . . I want to make sure my response is NOT, “I had ideas, but now I forget them all”!

I hope these suggestions help you in your shopping!  The best part about this list is you can shop right from it – and not have to leave your home or enter a toy store!

Our son LOVES playing with a flashlight.  He enjoys being read to as well, and we want to keep that love of reading in his heart!  So my first idea is to get at least one of the Shine-A-Light Books!

Shine-A-Light Books

On the Space Station ( A Shine-A-Light book)

On the Train (A Shine-A-Light Book)

On the Plane (Shine-Light-Book)

Our son picks up random objects (like paper towel rolls) and looks through them, pretending that it is something that is helping him see better, so I am thinking . . .

Binoculars

The Shock Proof 8×21 Kids Binoculars Set looks perfect and has incredible reviews!

Matchbox Cars and Sets

My friend’s son left matchbox cars here . . . and my son loves them!  We have cars, and a pre-school track, but I think it is time to upgrade!  Amazon suggested other tracks that were “more affordable”, but honestly, I think he will love and play with this one the best! Matchbox 4-level Garage Playset

Let’s not forget the cars and the Matchbox 72 Car-Case.  This gift is for mom just as much as it is for that adorable little boy!  We need a place to call “away”!

A Game that is NOT Chutes and Ladders or Candyland

Not that there is anything wrong with those games . . . except that mommy and daddy would appreciate something different.  We also have a Paw Patrol game that my son LOVES . . .but, it’s CandyLand and Chutes and Ladders together so . . . it’s like we play those games all.the.time!  Here are two games that are fun and a nice break from the traditional.

Do you have a suggestion for an awesome gift?  What does your four year old love to play with!?
