13 Catholic Valentine Gifts: Because a Little Love Goes a Long Way

This post contains affiliate or associate links with several businesses (which means if you shop through the links, I earn a small commission). As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

One Valentine’s Day, when I was a young girl, my mom and dad surprised me and my siblings with a small gift for Valentine’s Day.

I totally didn’t expect anything. It wasn’t a tradition in our family to get gifts for anything besides Christmas or our birthdays.

This little gift included a pack of stickers. I think they may have been Precious Moment stickers. Getting this small present brought me so much joy that to this day, I remember it.

Now, as a parent, I see the value in these little acts of love so much more.

Scripture tells us, Love is patient . . .

Oh, but I am not. I lack so much of the patience. In fact, I lack all of it.

It is truly something I must work on. As of late, the only memories my son and I are making together are of me expressing frustration with him.

This makes me sad.

However, I did notice a silver lining and a glimmer of hope with myself as a mother lately.

I wrote a little love note to my son and put it in his lunch box. He found it as he was unpacking his lunch. I found out later that it made his day.

About a week after this, I did it again.

He was so happy I did it. He read it over and over again on the bus ride home from school.

When I asked him about it, tears filled up his eyes and he got choked up. He said I should do that every day.

Be still my heart.

There is hope for my motherhood journey.

Little things do matter. They matter to adults and children alike.

In honor of the little things, here’s a list of fun Valentines to give this year that not only help us demonstrate our love, but also remind all of us of God’s LOVE.

Chews Life Teether

Saint Valentine’s Day Teether made by Chews Life!

For toddler and preschool aged children

Paradise Jewelry is a little shop that makes my heart smile 🙂

I especially love all the Catholic products, and I have my eye on that heart shaped Miraculous Medal for my daughter!

My two year old son loves to paint. I’m so excited to have found these “paint with water” books! My older son really loves to cook and bake – so really, making heart shaped cookies will make him happy. Me taking the time to bake or cook with him truly makes him happy. It’s really the gift of time that means the most.

For Kids (ages 5 and up)

My son loves his Kindred Forest “medal” .

They have so many saints to choose from and have a cool, outdoorsy look. My 7 year old also likes that since it is a religious medal, he is allowed to wear it in school.

I love this “Whatever God Wants” Heart Sticker!

This watercolor sticker as a reminder to say YES to God and his beautiful plans for you! “Whatever God wants” is a quote by the beautiful St. Gianna!

Teens and tweens love putting vinyl stickers on water bottles, laptops, phones, and notebooks!

I also came across these cute Catholic Conversational Hearts stickers!

So cute 🙂

A Be Yourself Journal

This age is often accompanied by the struggle to believe that one is loved. This journal was written to reassure girls that they are in fact loved beyond imagination. This journal reassures the reader that she was made uniquely beautiful and for a purpose that no other individual was given.

According to one mom who bought it for her daughter,:

” …There is no question that the pre-teen and teenage years are full of challenges and feelings and attempts to discover who you are…but this journal gives constant reminders of why the most important detail is being loved by God and rooted in His love. I love the examples of saints and inspiring quotes throughout the journal that are intermixed with fun pages of writing about the things girls love and enjoy at this tender age. I love that it is culturally relevant while including great reminders of our faith! I highly recommend this journal! I have 4 daughters so I will be buying more and giving as gifts whenever I can!

For the Guys

Make him a Valentine’s Day cocktail 🙂

In the book Drinking with the Saints. the author, Mike Foley, has a drink for each day of the year. In fact, for some days he has several. See what he came up with for Saint Valentine’s Day!

Pair it with the book Drinking with the Saints.

After all (as the book’s description on Amazon explains):

  • The méthode champenoise was invented by a Benedictine monk whose name now adorns one of the world’s finest champagnes: Dom Pérignon. According to the story, when he sampled his first batch, Pérignon cried out to his fellow monks: “Brothers, come quickly. I am drinking stars!”
  • Whiskey was invented by Irish monks, who probably shared their knowledge with the Scots during their missions. Whiskey was first prescribed medicinally as a cure for “paralysis of tongue,” and apparently it works: no Irishman since has ever been accused of having a paralyzed tongue.
  • Chartreuse, the world’s most magical liqueur, was perfected by Carthusian monks and is still made by them. Only two monks at a time know the recipe.
  • The California wine industry began when Blessed Junípero Serra and his Franciscan brethren brought the first wine grapes to the region. And its rebirth in Napa County after Prohibition was thanks in large part to a chemistry teacher and LaSalle Christian Brother named Brother Timothy

without love we are nothing, but when we found love we can give love and experience love ,
love give us strength when we are in love is a journey that we don’t want it to end , in everything we do, we do for the love of god, and the most beautiful thing in love that jesus love all his children unconditional.we all want to be love but can we give that precious gift back. only god knows .we pray for those who have never experience love, and want love, in there life.

Holy Week with young children - bedtime Masses and Holy Week with young children - bedtime Masses and services are definitely not ideal… at least there weren’t for our family.

I once read or heard another mom suggest washing your children’s feet on Holy Thursday… she I tried it and my kids absolutely LOVED it!

In fact, they would ask to wash my feet!

Last year I took my 3 children (8 year old twins and 12 year old) to a Shrine as a sort of modified 7 churches visit.
It was like a holy adventure!

I had planned on taking them to 2 more churches but we stayed at the first place for awhile so we kept it to that one visit.

Holy Week offers many opportunities and invites much silence and contemplation, but young children make what is do-able different.

We want our children to see and understand God’s great love for us. I feel like these activities communicate that- at least partially.

Do you have suggestions for Good Friday or Holy Saturday?

If this was helpful, please share!

Did you notice the part of the Gospel yesterday th Did you notice the part of the Gospel yesterday that stated what happened once Jesus died on the cross? There was a certain part that caught my attention more this year than in years past.
Here is an excerpt:
“… the veil of the sanctuary
was torn in two from top to bottom.
The earth quaked, rocks were split, tombs were opened,
and the bodies of many saints who had fallen asleep were raised.
And coming forth from their tombs after his resurrection,
they entered the holy city and appeared to many...@

That part about Saints rising and appearing to many made me wonder… did Saint Joseph appear to Mary? Did Saint Anne appear to her daughter as she mourned the loss of her Son?”

These were thoughts and questions I never had before.

After the Masses were over yesterday my nephew was baptized! My sister Theresa is his mother.
My sister Theresa was named after The Little Flower 🌹
I know a statue is not a person… but it looks like God and Saint Therese’ sent a wink from heaven yesterday… look who made sure she had a front row seat to the Baptism!

It’s interesting to see how the Saints have always been a part of the story.

I find such comfort that not only can I ask YOU to pray for me, but I can also reach out to the Saints and ask them to pray for me too.

By the way, if you ever need a parking spot, ask Saint Polycarp… he got us a great one yesterday in downtown Philly!
Someone once told me to ask him for help when looking for a parking spot. Her reasoning was “no one is asking him for anything” 😂 I’m telling you… it works every time I ask!

We are not alone.
If you need prayers- ASK
Ask your friends, family and call on the Saints!

What Saint has prayed for you before? I’d love to hear about it!
