“God delights in you.”
These words took me by surprise;
I was completely caught off guard when I heard them.
Did the priest not hear what I just confessed?
Perhaps he got distracted while I was saying, “Bless me Father for I have sinned it has been . . . .
I don’t know what he said immediately after that, because I could not remember a time when I heard that someone “delights” in me.
That word – I can’t help but to think even now, how beautiful it is.
I still hear them and ponder over them.
Did you know that God delights in you?
When I confessed my sins, the priest said to me,
firmly and lovingly,
“Remember, God DELIGHTS in you”.
I was expecting. . . .
I don’t know,
something else.
I just admitted so many times I missed the mark. So many times I let my heavenly Father down and my confessor said those words.
God DELIGHTS in you.
Wow.
Not what I expected.
Certainly not what I deserve.
But truth.
A gentle, loving reminder of the unimaginable capacity of God’s love for each of us.
God delights in you.
Even though you have sinned.
Even though you may have not been loving.
Even though you have a long way to go before someone suggests you should be canonized a saint.
God DELIGHTS in you!
I find myself stopping to breathe that in and let it, I don’t know, marinate?
God delights in YOU!
I think we often hear the words, “God loves you” so much, that it has lost the true meaning to us.
Please, remind yourself over and over today, that:
God truly delights in you.
Let that penetrate your soul.
And remember, our Lord thirsts for you!
His Mercy Endures Forever!
He desires your attention and no matter what you have done or said or thought in the past, none of it stops our Eternal Father, our loving Creator, from loving us!
We see glimpses of this love here in this life – but those are only a glimmer of His Light! His Love! His Passion for us!
Run to Him.
Take His love, His delight . . . and be still in it.
