Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church

100 Broad Street

Hilltown, PA 18927

I have to share with you, I was feeling like I was not giving you all the full retreat experience when I booked the location at the winery.

I thought, Our Lady Of Czestochowa is about 10 minutes away from the vineyard; maybe they have a 4:00 pm vigil Mass. I looked it up and was disappointed to find they do not.

Then I thought, “maybe there is another church in the area that has a 4:00 pm vigil Mass.” I went to Google and started my search. I found Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and found they have a 4:00 Mass on Saturdays. Then I googled the directions from the church to the winery and like a wink and a smile from Jesus Our Lord – it was revealed to me. This Church is . . . drumroll please

3 MINUTES from the winery! THREE MINUTES!

GOD IS SO GOOD!

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church is less than a 4 minute drive from Bishop Estates Winery!!!

After the 4:00 Mass come on over to Bishop Estates Winery. We will be in the Lounge!

So, if you want the full Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat experience; head to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 3:15 pm, go to confession and attend the Saturday Vigil Mass at 4:00 pm, then head to Bishop Estate Vineyard and Winery.

Please note, transportation will not be provided. Please plan accordingly.

Why attend the Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat?

A couple past retreat participants shared their thoughts last week.

Whitney, says this:

A few years ago, I decided to go on a solo retreat from North Carolina up to Pennsylvania for the prayer wine chocolate retreat. It was so refreshing having my own spiritual time of renewal. Amy helped me find a retreat center close by and I met up with the group. I really enjoyed making new friends, going to confession, visiting different shrines and having a meal and wine together at the end of the day. God placed so much on my heart that weekend and even in hindsight I can see how that time prepared me for the fruit that was to come in my spiritual life. The friends that I made at that retreat have continued to blossom over the last couple of years. We all shared with each other what God had placed on our heart.  It’s been so fruitful praying for these women and seeing God work in their lives over the past couple of years. We continue to stay in contact with each other and support each other in prayer.  The day was so organized and the retreat bag with religious items from small Catholic shops was one of my favorite keepsakes from that trip. I would hands down do it again!

Katie, who has attended every Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat since the very first, says this:

The Prayer, Wine Chocolate Retreat has been a blessing in my life.  Spending the day building friendships and connections with like-minded Catholic women is something that we don’t always have. You can feel isolated and lonely in this world, but knowing you are not alone and have women who support you and pray with you is unmatched.”

Don’t hesitate to come alone! Feel free to invite a friend or two as well!

Support the Prayer Wine Chocolate ministry!!!

Each ticket purchase will help us continue to maintain and grow this ministry.

Our new mission statement is:

Prayer Wine Chocolate provides a way to welcome and encourage women of the parish to embrace their faith more fully. By putting God first and nurturing Catholic friendships, it creates opportunities for women to grow spiritually and socially, accompanying eachother as the heart of the home and parish. The time spent in communion with each other empowers women to bridge their prayer lives from the church building into their everyday lives. New mission statement

After one year of watching Betsy Scafidi run a successful and popular Prayer Wine Chocolate prayer group at her parish, we have decided to help other parishes offer this type of faith and fellowship community too.

With the help of Betsy Scafidi and Katie Davis, the Prayer Wine Chocolate community is growing – but we need your help too!

Purchase a ticket! Proceeds will help us create a new Prayer Wine Chocolate Meeting Guide as well as rebuild the website.

You can also purchase some Prayer Wine Chocolate gear to support the ministry!

Sweatshirts, T-shirts, wine tumblers, etc. are great gifts for you and a loved one.

Start shopping here today! Thank you for supporting this wonderful work I so enjoy!

I hope to see you November 2nd!!!

Amy Brooks: Prayer Journaling Workshops, Confirmation Retreats and the Prayer Wine Chocolate Experience

“Amy’s contributions to the planning and execution of our Confirmation Candidate Retreat resulted in a spiritually enriching and very enjoyable Retreat Day for our seventh through ninth grade youth. Amy is gifted with creative genius and an energetic, joyful personality, which is captivating to both youth and adults.
I strongly recommend Amy as I am certain she will plan an excellent, unforgettable Retreat experience for you!

Sr. Kathleen Fitzpatrick, IHM

The Power of Prayer and Prayer Journaling: a talk and experience for Catholic Adults

When I hit rock bottom, prayer journaling saved me.

Well, it was one of the things that saved me. I felt so alone. So sad. I wondered if God heard me. Reaching out to Him on paper made His love, His “realness” more real to me.

When there is no one around – Our Lord is still there. Writing Jesus letters in a notebook made my relationship more tangible.

I share the power of prayer with others now. Years later I witnessed an absolute miracle. God showed me that He does indeed hear our prayers.

Starting with this Spiritual Adoption Miracle, I assure others that God does hear what we say to Him in the silence of our hearts, in our persistent prayers and in our daily lives.

When I was in my mid-twenties, I often felt like I had nothing to look forward too

Then, a few friends and I would get together on Thursday nights – and during our small gathering, we would pray a Rosary.

I now had something to look forward to. I not only had friends coming over to give my loneliness a retrieve, but our prayer intentions and group Rosary gave me HOPE!

Hope is an incredible gift. Praying with others is so powerful. It’s also incredibly comforting.

These gatherings were the origin of Prayer Wine Chocolate. I share that with anyone and everyone who will listen.

After I share stories of hope and faith – and even some laughs, I help people start their own prayer journals.

Would you like to bring this inspirational experience to your parish or event?

Whether you need a DIY Guide or your are looking for a Keynote Speaker, I can help!

Today, more than ever, our children are searching for their identity.

Each of us are made in the image of God. God made every person unique and unrepeatable.

His plans for every single soul are incredible, meaningful and spectacular.

My books, Be Yourself: a Journal for Catholic Girls and Be Yourself: a Journal for Catholic Boys are made for the age where your children are growing into adulthood. It’s a confusing time – it has always been a confusing stage of life. Our children are witnessing more confusion and mixed messages than we could have imagined.

Our Lord has a clear message to them and I am here simply to be His mic – maybe His bullhorn.

I would love to visit your parish and speak to both the students and their parents!

If you would like help planning a retreat – take a look at my digital guides:

From God’s Plan to Your Plan: a Bible Study for Boys

and the Be Yourself: Journal Club Guide

These guides give you the freedom and flexibility to plan more than one event – or the inspiration to choose activities and reflections for a one day retreat.

Where can I find more Catholic Speakers?

There are incredible Catholics sharing inspirational stories all over the U.S. and beyond.

Do you and your friends enjoy prayer, wine and chocolate?!

For those of you who have a great appreciation for getting together with friends that share your love for Christ, here are some great gift ideas!

A Prayer Wine Chocolate Wine Tumbler

What’s an outdoor party without a wine tumbler to keep a drink fresh and at just the right temperature? Forget breakable glasses—give this uniquely shaped wine tumbler a chance and have fun with friends without worry.

The best part about this wine tumbler is that it has the potential to inspire a conversation about prayer and faith – over a relaxed atmosphere!

Wine tumblers are available in pink and purple!

These tumblers are perfect for outdoor parties and BYOB events!

Prayer Wine Chocolate Tees now in stock!!!

I also am loving the baseball feel of the Raglan 3/4 sleeve shirts!

Prayer Wine Chocolate Sweatshirts

My sister-in-law Maria bought one of these recently and says she LOVES IT! Then she followed up with, “seriously, it’s my favorite sweatshirt – it is sooo comfy!”

You can totally rock this classic sweatshirt silhouette with ribbed crew neck, long sleeve cuffs, and a flat hem. Layer it up or wear it on its own for a contemporary streetwear look. With the soft fleece inside and comfortable fit, it’s sure to become your favorite everyday sweater right away!

Navy is a favorite color!

Prayer Wine Chocolate Hooded Sweatshirt

I have one of these Prayer Wine Chocolate hoodies and I absolutely love it – I think it’s because the pouch is the perfect place to put my phone when I’m busy with so many other things!

The hoodie is soft and the warm hood is such a gift on chilly evenings – even in the summer!

Host a Prayer Wine Chocolate Event!!!

Prayer, Wine, Chocolate started as a Rosary night in my apartment when I was single. Years later the name “Prayer Wine Chocolate” came up when the women that I had prayed with for years (over wine and chocolate) were talking about all our answered prayers – and saying jokingly, we should write a book. We wondered, what would we call it?” And someone said, “Prayer Wine Chocolate” (instead of Eat, Pray, Love)!

That name came to me as I began thinking about starting a blog – and here we are!

I created a DIY Digital Guide so you can start planning your own Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat right away!

the cover of "How to Plan Your Own Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat; a guidebook"

The guide covers 4 different types of “events” – some very low key, some more involved but all so much fun!!!

Recently a woman used this guide to start a regular prayer group in her parish!

Here is what she has to say about How to Plan Your Own Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat Guidebook:

I just used Amy’s retreat guide to help me plan a mini retreat for the women in my parish. It was super easy to do following the guide and the response was incredible. For anyone who feels the pull of the Holy Spirit to plan something like this….Get the guide and DO IT!!!! Every single woman at the event said the same thing…We NEED this. I now have a team of women working on our next gathering.

Are you on the fence? Not sure you can do it without a little help?

I am here to help you get started!

Amy Brooks, professional headshot

You can book a 30 minute call with me and I’ll walk you through how I planned events that embraced our beautiful Catholic faith and invited women to enjoy praying together, sharing intentions and developing friendships strong in faith.

Do you want me to help you plan the event or come to speak at your parish, women’s group or school?

Let’s book a call and discuss available packages!

I’m still booking for 2023 and have already started booking 2024! Don’t delay, let’s talk today!

I don’t know about you, but I still am hiding the bag of candy my son got from his classmates on Valentine’s Day.

I love how generous everyone is, but my son can NOT eat all this candy.

I’ve already caught the 11 month old twins with jelly beans in their mouths.

And the children are not the only ones with no off button.  I mean, Reece’s – how do you know my heart and my taste buds so well?

So, I have a suggestion for you beautiful Momma!

The answer is a little Christian fellowship.  Invite your friends over.  If they have kids, tell them to bring them.

Plan a prayer, wine, chocolate soiree.

This idea comes in handy all times of year: Five Reasons to Start a Rosary Group

Here’s how I did it:

I picked a date and invited over a few friends for Rosary, wine and Easter candy pairing.

When guests asked, “What can I bring”,

I took them up on the offer.

Suggest they bring extra Easter candy they want to get rid of, a bottle of wine, water bottles, cheese and crackers, etc).

We had plenty of paper plates, disposable cups and napkins left over.  But the point is – don’t try to do it all!  Let friends bring something.

Have your candy displayed on a table.

Pick about 4 different wines (I had a moscato, sauvignon blanc, chianti and merlot) and place them on the table.  In front of each bottle, have a blank piece of paper with the name of the wine written on top.

Invite friends to try the different candies with each of the wines and write their favorite pairing on the paper provided.

***Or, give each guest a small card or piece of paper and a pen.  Direct them to write their prayer intentions on the card.  Collect the prayer intentions and place them in a container then have each guest pick a card out and pray for those intentions during the Rosary and personally that week.

I suggest using disposable shot glasses for the tastings.  This makes guests more aware of how much they are drinking.  And when I say guests, I mean me – because I may have poured a little more than I should have and made a mental note for next time 😉

Enjoy the adult conversation.

After an hour or so, start giving out the Rosaries.

(Confession: my 5 year old asked “aren’t you supposed to be praying the Rosary?”, that is when I knew it was time)

Pray together.

Send friends home with candy.  I forgot to do this.  This is important – don’t forget to spread out what’s left!

What I discovered:

I Can Change the World

  1. It has been way to long since I had friends over to pray the Rosary.
  2. Dark Chocolate M&M’s go great with Chianti.
  3. Mini-Cadbury Creme Eggs are AMAZING with Sauvignon Blanc.
  4. Peanut Butter eggs are possibly the greatest candy ever and pair well with Pink Moscato.
  5. Aldi sells an incredible goat cheese and cranberry spread (and made a great addition to the candy spread).

Easter Candy, Wine and Rosary get together. Thanks for coming Assunta, Jen, Katie and Nancy (taking picture)! Check out Jen’s Etsy shop Rose Sews!

Having friends to enjoy faith with is so rewarding!  Our friend Jen just opened an Etsy shop – check out her work and show her some love 🙂 RoseSewsbyJennifer

Are you a Catholic that is hoping and praying to be who God meant you to be?

If your answer is yes, you are invited to the:

First Annual Catholics Online Retreat

“Be who God made you to be and set the world on fire.”

– St. Catherine of Siena

Who or what is “Catholics Online”?

In early 2017, Amy Brooks (blogger at prayerwinechocolate.com and author of Be Yourself: A Catholic Journal for Girls), created a group on Facebook titled “Catholic Social Media Influencers”.  Amy shared her vision for the group – to promote Catholics sharing their talents online and create a community of support among all Catholic influencers – male or female, blogger or artisan, ministry founder or motivational speaker).

Shortly after creating the group, Amy asked Sara Estabrooks (blogger of To Jesus, Sincerely) to help administrate the group and promote the

mbers in the community.  Sara brought a passion to the group that all members recognized and embraced.  Sara’s talent and work ethic made that community grow and Amy’s vision of an online directory and resource became a reality.

What is the purpose of CatholicsOnline.net?

CatholicsOnline.net has several purposes and missions:

One purpose of CatholicsOnline.net is to give as many Catholic Influencers as possible a united online platform and supportive community.

Another purpose is to give Catholics across the U.S. and the world a place to peruse talent and resources.  If a parish is looking for a local speaker, a skilled artisan or simply an inspiring read -CatholicsOnline.net provides for that need.

CatholicsOnline also offers social media campaigns to companies that desire more exposure within the Catholic community.

Why should I attend the CatholicsOnline Retreat/Conference?

You should attend the CatholicsOnline Retreat/Conference because you have been longing to reignite your fire – your fire for our faith and your fire that drives your mission.

This weekend event will allow you to reconnect with God and shape a plan to let the world know about your mission.

Check out this incredible itinerary:

csmi-retreat-schedule

Is this just for bloggers?

No.  This question has been asked more than once, and we can not stress enough how much we desire to promote Catholics with a mission.

Whether your mission is photography, jewelry making, running a non-profit, vlogging or speaking – this group and retreat is perfect for you.

How do I register?

Click here and sign up! Registration will be closing soon, so please don’t wait!

Reignite Your Fire Retreat and Conference

Screen Shot 2018-03-25 at 12.31.38 PM

Why are you calling it a “Chocolate Retreat“?

This retreat is being held at the McMahon Retreat House in Wrentham, Massachusets.

The McMahon Retreat House is located on the grounds of Mount Saint Mary’s Abbey. This Abbey is home to close to fifty nuns of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance, more commonly known as Trappistines. The Order was founded in 1098 at Citeaux, France and is now comprised of monks and nuns who live in over one hundred and seventy monasteries throughout the world. Trappistine Quality Candy, is the candy making industry that allows this community to be self-supporting. Through this work the Trappistine nuns are able to share with the poor and supports the communal life, giving Sisters the opportunity to work together for the common good. Through both prayer and effort, community members regardless of age can actively participate in this ‘labor of love’.

We will be praying with these sisters for part of the Retreat and will be able to purchase their candy from their gift shop!

Retreat attendees and speakers are coming from all over the U.S. and one member is traveling from Panama!  The Reignite Your Fire Retreat and Conference is being held April 27 – 29 (see agenda above).  CatholicsOnline.net would like to thank the Sisters of Trappistine Quality Candy who have offered their mansion for our event.

Are you considering joining us?  Trust that God will provide . . .

We are looking forward to praying and growing with you!

Prayer Wine Chocolate is . . .

a reassurance to readers that faith in God is awesome, that prayers are truly heard, and that miracles really do happen.

Articles are written from the heart, and give witness and testimony to amazing miracles of faith and prayer; including personal reflections of how God works in our lives!

God Hears Us!

My Stupid Talent Was a Great Blessing

Prayer Wine Chocolate is . . .

all about prayer journaling!

Wondering how to start a prayer journal?  I can help! Here is an easy “how to” guide!! How to Start a Prayer Journal (in 3 easy steps)

Staying connected to and with God through a physical, tangible, letter, prayer, picture, coloring page or collage helps me, personally.  It has helped me get through depression.  It’s help me hear what God wants me to think and focus on.  It helps me express myself and stay focused in prayer!

There are some many secular benefits to journaling – add prayer and  . . . wow!  And for those of us that lack the “Pinterest Craftiness”, it really allows a creative outlet!

5 Benefits of Prayer Journaling

I believe in prayer journaling so much, I wrote a guided prayer journal for young Catholic girls!

The Be Yourself Journal combines fun games (like “would you rather” and “truth or dare”) with wisdom from Scripture and the Saints.  The Be Yourself Journal gives girls the option to color on every page, and promotes meditation with powerful quote coloring pages.  There is so much fun – and reassurance of God’s love for the individual girl – on each and every page.  Every young girl should have this book – and every mom would love the nostalgia of filling out her own too!

Prayer journaling is something we can truly do with all Christians – it’s a great way to bond with and remember we do have a lot in common!

Prayer Wine Chocolate is . . .

Pro-love, Pro-life and Pro-adoption

And yes, all of those are connected!  Part of the reason why the blog started was to share our families journey of Pursuing an Adoption Without an Agency: Part 1

While we on that journey, we started praying the Spiritual Adoption prayer – and witnessed more than one miracle through it.  I now speak about this miracle at churches, pro-life events, on radio shows and anywhere people will listen!

Our family has been so blessed by the gift of adoption!  I love promoting adoption and crisis pregnancy centers.  I believe so many women do not realize how much help is available for women who choose life – whether or not they are ready to parent.  I believe so many women do not know how many groups would help them parent.  I believe sometimes God calls a woman to choose adoption, after really looking at parenting first.

Prayer Wine Chocolate is . . .

a platform that celebrates other Catholic Christian writers, businesses, and social media influencers.

Before I started blogging, I knew I wanted to do two things: share our adoption journey with others who feel called to adopt; and promote other bloggers (like Annie from Catholic Wife, Catholic Life).  That desire to promote others and birthed a whole new website and dream.  Together with Sara from To Jesus, Sincerely

Catholic Social Media Influencers

has been founded!  We are bringing promotion of Catholics to a whole new level!  If you are interested in being in our directory, contact us and let’s start chatting!
