What is your blog about?

KateBRadiant.jpg

My blog covers many topics that are dear to my heart, including faith, books, crafting, art, and study. However the bulk of my content is related to Catholic religious education. I offer hundreds of free printables, lesson plans, crafts, and other ideas for classrooms and homes. Through my blog, I try to give practical tools to teachers, catechists, youth group leaders, and parents to help them share the beauty of our faith with kids of all ages.

What do you like most about writing?

This is kind of a funny question for me because writing is actually my least favorite part of blogging! What I do love is creating new printables, ideas, projects, and art that help make the deep truths of Catholicism teachable for all ages. The brainstorming, sketching, drawing, and publishing are where my creative juices flow freely, and then writing the actual post to go along with it takes a little more effort and energy on my part. I am grateful for an online forum that allows me to share so easily and then reach, connect with, and engage so many people, so blogging is worth it!

What type of wine (or beverage) is your favorite?

While I do enjoy a good glass of red wine, my favorite beverage is coffee. I’m also a fan of quality beer and love visiting new breweries/restaurants and trying their craft beer selection.

What is your favorite chocolate (or dessert)?

My mom’s apple pie is my all time favorite dessert.

What is your favorite prayer and/or quote?

This is incredibly hard to pick! Based on my blog title, it is obvious that my favorite Bible verse is Psalm 34:6 (look to Him and be radiant). I’m a quote collector- I’m always jotting down another great quote and learning through the powerful wisdom of others. One of my all time favorite quotes is from St. John Paul II and begins, “It is Jesus in fact you seek when you dream of happiness…” And my favorite prayer is actually praying with and through Scripture using journaling, Lectio Divina, and study.

What is your blog about?

Mommy University is a blog dedicated to encouraging parents to incorporate learning into everything they do with their kids.

What do you like most about writing?

I love offering parents ideas and suggestions to encourage a love of learning through play, travel, art, events and everyday activities. I also love writing as I find it therapeutic. It’s a wonderful way to express my emotions and ideas.

What type of wine (or beverage) is your favorite?

My favorite drink is Framboise Lambic Belgian Raspberry Beer.

What is your favorite chocolate (or dessert)?

Deciding on a favorite chocolate or dessert is hard as I love everything. I can say I am a huge Hershey fan and my favorite chocolate candies are Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Kit Kat. For dessert, I LOVE tiramisu.

What is your favorite prayer and/or quote?

“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

What is your blog about?

My blog is currently a lot of product reviews because they’re straight-forward and my brain is fried with my little baby in tow but I am really into crafts and can’t wait to get back into repurposing random junk into fun masterpieces! I once turned a ball of hot glue, flour, and a bread tie into an adorable mini snowman.

What do you like most about writing?

I’ve always loved writing so much, even as a child. I would write children’s fictional stories and I’ve won awards for my poetry. I can’t pinpoint what it is that I love about writing but I know that now as a mother of five, it keeps the wheels turning in my mind so I don’t get rusty!

What type of wine (or beverage) is your favorite?

Surprisingly to many, I don’t like wine but I’m a huge fan of lemonade and hot cocoa. My tastes are that of a grown child!

What is your favorite chocolate (or dessert)?

My favorite chocolate is milk chocolate from Godiva. Nearly anything they put out, I will eat. It’s so rich and creamy! However, if I’m looking for a great taste at a lower price, Dove is almost as good!

What is your favorite prayer and/or quote?

My favorite prayer is not a pre-written prayer or anything, I just love to pray with thanks and appreciation. I thank Him for my trials and I thank Him for each and every blessing. I pray with gratefulness more than anything else in my life. God is so good!

When I was 15 I realized that I was equating anger When I was 15 I realized that I was equating anger with self-confidence… and then I became very aware of how angry people had hurt me, but sad people were not hurtful.
At one point I remember thinking… “who do you want to be? A person that is hurtful… or someone else? if you can choose sadness instead of anger, do it. You don’t want to hurt people.”
I don’t know if Saint John Paul II really said this quote… but I do believe it’s solid advice when people we interact with do upsetting things.

Choose sadness over anger… and pray for the people and about the situations that are upsetting you.

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to live.
For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

You are the average of the five people you spend t You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with," popularized by Jim Rohn, suggests that your mindset, behaviors, and success are heavily influenced by your closest circle. These individuals shape your habits, energy, and future by acting as a reflection of your own choices and environment.

I don’t know who Jim Rohn is, but my guess is Saint Francis DeSales would agree with him.

I feel like I’ve been asking it my whole life.

Some of the best advice I have gotten have been from Saints.

God has a plan for each of us. We are all called to holiness… but we do not all go by the same path (wise words from Saint Katharine Drexel).

The quotes I included in the Be Yourself Journal are actionable, doable and clear.

Cheers to Friday! 🍷 I was SO EXCITED when a while Cheers to Friday! 🍷
I was SO EXCITED when a while back THE @stephanieweinert Stephanie Weinert tagged me in her #7quicktakes #sevenquicktakes #fridayintroductions post.

I’m jumping in today!

1. I recently took my own “headshots”. The first photo is one of MANY photos I took. It was super windy that day. If you need professional photos… give it a try - you can save a ton of $ this way! I used a tripod and my phone!

2. I see a lot of people posting photos of 2016. In 2016 I heard Gianna Emanuela (daughter of Saint Gianna) give a talk. I remember thinking, “her Dad sounds like a saint too!” I got to meet her. My husband and oldest son met her and asked her to pray that we could adopt again. 40 weeks later our twins were born!

3. Gianna Emmanuela is doing all she can to help the world see how holy her Father was. She has made prayer cards with Ecclesiastic approval. I’m asking Pietro Molla to intercede for a special intention. I will post more about this soon! He is such an inspiring man!

4. I have two guilty pleasures. I love getting my hair done and every once in a while I get a box from Stitch Fix. My coat was in one of those boxes.

5. I can’t remember all the pictures I chose for this post. I’m super forgetful. It’s not my age, I’ve always been this way. Saint Anthony is busy with just me most of the time.

6. We are taking our Christmas tree down this weekend. I loved our tree so much this year. My husband, all 3 children and me picked it out. We all agreed upon it and it really is so perfect.

7. I’m not so great at tech. I don’t know how to go back and see which pictures I posted without deleting this whole post. I promised after this post I would play a @saints.alive.pod episode for my daughter. I’m off to listen to another episode for at least the 3rd time. Hoping a new one comes out soon 😉

Thank you for reading all that! I’m so grateful you’re here! Tell me something about you!!!
