Spiritual Stocking Stuffers for Men

Whether you are unsure what to get your dad, husband, son, Godfather, uncle, pastor or friend this Christmas, or you already know exactly what he wants . . . I hope this list gives you an extra way to tell all the men in your life that you love them!

You could also win a few of these gifts by commenting below the article! Tell me what you would like to give or receive from the list and you are entered to win!

A Miraculous Medal

This standard Miraculous Medal for men can be ordered from The Catholic Company. It’s only $18.95 and most men like this design.  Usain Bolt proudly wore the Blessed Mother around his neck when he won several gold medals at the Olympics this summer.  His medal was gold.  You can browse the Catholic Company, The Miraculous Medal Gift Shop or even Amazon  to find the perfect medal for each man on your shopping list.  Our Lady told Saint Catherine Laboure that anyone who wears the medal around his or her neck would receive extra graces – so this gift is not only from you, but the Queen of Heaven too!

Drinking with the Saints: The Sinner’s Guide to Holy Happy Hour

For a really awesome gift; pair this with a Drink Shaker with a built in shaker.  This one is 70% right now -such a great deal! MYXER Cocktail Shaker Set 24 Oz – Premium Bar Tools Kit with Jigger, Built-in Strainer & Recipes  This book looks awesome and the reviews reassure that it is!  The book contains both great spiritual reading and cocktail recipes! I like how Father Mitch Pacwa, S.J., host of EWTN Live describes the book, in his words:

“Drinking with the Saints becomes an occasion (if not an excuse) to slow one’s pace, savor a drink, and slip not into inebriation but a relaxed look at the saints.”

Definitely a unique, fun gift!

A Book from The Catholic Company

gunmetalrosary.jpgI asked both my brother and my husband to choose something from The Catholic Company’s website – and both of them chose a book.  One chose the Manual for Spiritual Warfare and the other chose Cultivating Virtue.  Both books provide short readings, but strong messages.  They also both look and sound manly 🙂

A Masculine Rosary

This Rosary from SaongJai is a simple and masculine hematite rosary with gun metal beads, Miraculous Medal center, and pardon Crucifix. The natural stone gives this rosary a substantial weighted feel in your hands. The gun metal finish rosary is the ultimate weapon for spiritual warfare!  Another option for a more unique gift would be a wrist Rosary from Small Things. Great Love.  This hand knotted rosary is cool for a guy to wear and a constant reminder of prayer. If your guy is not one to wear a bracelet, Small Things.Great Love has pocket rosaries too! Catholic Company also has a nice copper pocket rosary!

The holy Rosary is a powerful weapon.  Use it with confidence and you will be amazed at the results. St. Josemaria Escriva

The Meditation Palm Cross from Christian Bling

I love how this matte silver cross fits nicely in a pocket and the palm of your hand – and perfectly in a stocking! There is a hole through the cross for you to place a piece of paper with your thoughts and prayers written down (paper included).  It’s simple and will serve as a constant reminder to thank God for His blessings and ask Him for help with whatever is needed. IF YOU MAKE A PURCHASE with Christian Bling through ctbling.com/HisGoodness, WRITE IN PARTY NUMBER 1825, AND YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED TO WIN FREE HOSTESS SHOPPING! WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN DECEMBER 14TH!!! Merry Christmas – it’s a giveaway wrapped up inside another giveaway 🙂

CHOCOLATE

But not just any chocolate . . .chocolate made with love and prayer.  Trappistine Quality Candy is made by the nuns at Mt St Mary’s Abbey with great joy and love knowing how much people enjoy their candy.  It is truly quality candy and absolutely delicious!  What a great way to support the cloistered nuns who make it and a way to give a sweet gift 🙂  P.S.  Dark chocolate goes great with red wine . . . and I heard it is good for you 😉  Also, I gave my dad a box of the dark chocolate hearts last year and he LOVED it.  Trust me, it’s good.

trappistinecandychristmas

Saint Michael Chaplet from Rugged Rosaries

Made with a genuine military paracord, this sacramental is unique and a shorter devotion than the Rosary.  Many men have a special devotion to St. Michael and have chosen him as a Confirmation Saint or see him as the ultimate defender of the faith.

COFFEE

Lifeboat Coffee gives back 10% of it’s profits to Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers and other pro-life centers.  The coffee comes from all over the world.  You can purchase K-cups or sample packets to see which roast or origin is the perfect brew.

A Game for the Whole Family

Scattergories has a Catholic Edition!  This game is so much fun – and now there is a faith twist to it!  How fun will it be to see what answers the man in your life comes up with – and how many laughs you will have together while playing!

An Auto Visor Clip

Screen Shot 2016-11-25 at 10.51.13 PM.png

This Prayer Cross from Amazon reads “Dear Lord, protect me, my passengers and all I pass by with a steady hand and a watchful eye”.  You can also purchase a Saint Christopher/Miraculous Medal Visor Clip which some prefer since St. Christopher is the Patron Saint of transportation, traveling, storms, epilepsy, bachelors and more.  This is a very affordable gift and a very loving gesture that let’s your loved one know that you pray he is always safe.

This is a great list!! Very helpful. This is our second ever Christmas together, and the first year that we are doing stockings! Last year we went to my parents’ house (where my younger, still don’t know the secret of Santa siblings live) so stockings were all taken care of for us. I have had a really hard time coming up with small, meaningful gifts for my husband, but this list has sparked some inspiration! I need to find a Miraculous Medal for him, one that won’t interfere with his work (he’s US Sailor, and they have uniform regulations).

I would love to get a copy of A Sinner’s Guide to Holy Happy Hour!! My husband and I both just turned 21 this year (his birthday is in July, mine in November) so we are just starting to experiment with alcohol. We really have no idea what we are doing, and my husband is always looking up ideas for different stuff to try, so this would be perfect!!!

These are all fabulous finds!! I’d give my family (husband and 3 sons) Scattergories, it would even qualify as a gift for me as I’m always on the look out for things to gently nudge the faith and not necessarily feel like I’m wacking them over the head with lessons.

The small medal would be universal for everyone. A gentle reminder easy to carry in a pocket or wallet where it could send a consistent reminder of a greater love.

My dad, the rosary would be a grand slam. He’s an old school man and this would qualify as ‘manly!’

For me, no brainer the chocolates and coffee would rock my world and they do god for the world! I’d share with my Christ sisters!

Your work is wonderful, enjoy Advent and the wonder of the season.

GUIDE: How to Plan your Own Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat

Be Yourself! Journal

Journal for tweens and teens

prayerwinechocolate

I’m Amy Brooks, I connect Catholics! Make Catholic friends that love a GNO! Attend a retreat, start a parish group! Author of Be Yourself Journals 🙂

When I was a little girl, I vaguely remember a sil When I was a little girl, I vaguely remember a silver and blue medal fastened to my school uniform with a pin. My mom put that medal on my uniform. I don’t remember asking any questions, but I still think that blue was so pretty.
Fast forward about 9 years, and another memory surfaces… my Dad took our family to a church in a neighborhood we had to drive to. I remember parking across the street and entering the front doors of the @miraculousmedal Shrine. I recall the pads of paper placed on the marble in front of the different statues. These little memo 📝 pads were notes to God, asking Our Lady to intercede for us. I loved that I could write an intention but that one of the suggestions was “for a Catholic boyfriend” I was 15, I checked that box.
But honestly, I wasn’t a “Mary” person when it came to prayer.
Any personal prayer addressed Jesus or God.
10 years later my friend’s Mom gave me a Miraculous Medal keychain. I put it on my keys and life went on…

And over a decade later… it was that shrine I went to with this big idea about a Catholic gift guide and a giveaway.

But confession, many times in between those years each and every time I was going through something hard,I visited that place.
I poured my hearts desires on those little memo papers.
I asked Our Blessed Mother to pray for me.
I begged God to answer my prayers.

And He did.

Without me knowing the details of the Miraculous Medal.
But that time I went in there with the gift guide and giveaway idea… I was asked if I was only going to write one blog post.

That question inspired a second.
I researched the Miraculous Medal and read that Our Lady promised graces, especially to those who wore it around their neck.

More graces? Yes please

I wrote a post…” 5 Reasons Why I wear a Miraculous Medal and maybe You Should Too”.
Church Pop @churchpop asked if they could publish it.
It went viral… at least viral for me.

And a few weeks ago, I brought about 30 women there for a retreat.

I didn’t pursue Mary, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal… I pursued her Son.
My pursuit was sloppy.
Like any mother, she couldn’t resist helping me a little.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you
No one is EVER beyond God’s abundant love, generos No one is EVER beyond God’s abundant love, generosity and power.

“I can’t go this year, but next year I hope to!” “I can’t go this year, but next year I hope to!”

I hear this every year when I’m planning the Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat.

And every year I think…” I don’t know if I’ll be able to do this again next year.”

Each year- each day- is a gift.
Getting to plan a retreat for women that truly serves their minds, their souls and their hearts is truly a gift.
But the truth is, I never know if I’ll be given this gift again.

Jesus reminds us all in the Gospels that we all really don’t know what will happen in the future.
I don’t know what next year will bring…

But I do know that when women attend a Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat for a day, they say things like

“I needed this”
“I would have paid you more”
“It’s like Christmas for Moms”

I understand life is busy. I feel strongly that the busyness is a distraction from the stillness Our Lord is calling us to.

If you really can’t attend this year’s Prayer Wine Chocolate Retreat, may I make a suggestion?

Get out your calendar and schedule a day to go to confession,
A day to go to Mass that is not Sunday,
A day to get together with someone else to pray the Rosary out loud and a day to spend time with another woman that needs your prayers.

All of these things are available on November 15th.
There’s still time to register!

If you want to join us this year, comment “Register “ and I’ll send you the details.

If you definitely can’t make it, drop a prayer intention in the comments- or message me- and we will bring your intentions with us!
